For the past two decades, a unique partnership of public and private organizations has been quietly assisting landowners to protect open space in the Mad River Valley. Initiated by the Mad River Valley Planning District and the Vermont Land Trust in 1983, the cooperative relationship between these organizations was broadened by the formation of the Friends of the Mad River in 1990 and formalized as the Mad River Watershed Conservation Partnership in 2000.
